Health Ministry Issues Clarification After PM Khan Tests Positive For COVID-19

Health Ministry on Saturday has issued a clarification hours after PM Imran Khan tested positive for COVID-19.

The 68-year-old Pakistani premier received a shot of the Chinese-produced Sinopharm vaccine on March 18.

The ministry clarified that Prime Minister Imran Khan was not fully vaccinated when he contracted the virus.

“He only got the 1st dose and merely 2 days ago which is too soon for ANY vaccine to become effective. Anti-bodies develop 2-3 weeks after the 2nd dose of 2-dose COVID vaccines,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, PM’s office in a statement said that “At this point, the prime minister’s office can only confirm that the honourable prime minister has tested positive for COVID-19 and has self-isolated.”

As people came out questioning the authenticity of the Chinese COVID-19 vaccine which PM had also received, Federal Minister Asad Umar in a tweet also shares a clarification.

“Some people questioning the efficacy of vaccination since he was vaccinated Thursday evening. The symptoms take a few days before manifesting. Hence it is certain that PM had been infected PRIOR to vaccination. So please do vaccinate,” he said.

Meanwhile. Indus Hospital CEO Dr. Abdul Bari Khan while talking to the news channel said that Prime Minister Imran Khan might have been exposed to coronavirus before he was vaccinated for the virus.
